The Technical Vigilance Committee (TVC) of the BBMP has presented a report, which promises to bring to the fore several losses incurred by the palike as a result of mismanagement of funds at three important constituencies in the city.

BBMP Commissioner H Siddhaiah alleges that palike officials from the area conducted one set of development work and then duplicated the same on paper to extract more funds from the BBMP

MiD DAY is in possession of the TVC report that was filed in a closed-door meeting at the palike last week. The report claims that the corruption existing in these three constituencies has cost the BBMP a whopping loss of Rs 700 crore.

The report highlights the progress of developmental works in all the 28 constituencies in the city, talks about roads, drains, asphalting, potholes and slab work in all these areas.

In the report filed by the seven-member technical vigilance committee, Malleshwaram, Gandhinagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar areas have been exposed for mismanagement.

BBMP Commissioner H Siddhaiah revealed that from the Rs 700 crore wasted, almost Rs 500 crore loss has been attributed to the Gandhinagar Constituency.

"We have received this report and are aware of the losses to the palike. I myself will go through the report and take serious action against the gross violations that have occurred in these three areas," said Siddhaiah.

Explaining the nature of mismanagement that has occurred in these three constituencies, the commissioner said, "The mismanagement took place in the form of duplication of work.

Palike officials from the area conducted one set of developmental works and duplicated the same on paper to extract more funds from the BBMP. They have further submitted fake bills to get payment cleared by us.

I have appointed a few of my officials to carry out investigation on this duplication of work and palike officials caught on the wrong foot will be punished."

Foul play?
Many seem to believe that Gandhinagar corporator R Natraj, who was recently brutally murdered in broad daylight, could have been indulging in mismanagement of funds for his constituency.

However, the local MLA from the area, Dinesh Gundurao now alleges that the other 25 constituencies are not clean either.

"I do not want to blame the commissioner nor the TVC for the Rs 500 crore loss due to mismanagement in our constituency.

BBMP Commissioner H Siddhaiah revealed that of the Rs 700 crore wasted in constructing roads, a loss of around Rs 500 crore has been attributed to the Gandhinagar Constituency
