In a show of solidarity with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a walkathon on Sunday, the IANS reported.

Delhi CM Kejriwal is currently in jail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

The event, took place in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar and Karol Bagh, saw AAP supporters marching with flags adorned with CM Kejriwal’s photo alongside the slogan ‘Jail ka jawab vote se (Answer to jail through votes)', as per the IANS.

According to the IANS, several AAP leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi state convenor Gopal Rai, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, Lok Sabha candidate Somnath Bharti, Mayor Shelly Oberoi, MLA Durgesh Pathak, MLA Vishesh Ravi, and MLA Shiv Charan Goel participated in the protest event.

Expressing their discontent over the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal, Gopal Rai said, "There is anger among the people of Delhi regarding the matter," the news agency reported on Sunday.

"The manner in which the BJP imprisoned CM Kejriwal, despite his overwhelming electoral mandate, and without any substantiated evidence or formal charges, has sparked widespread anger among the residents of Delhi,” Gopal Rai said, adding that people are supporting us to give the answer of ‘jail’ with votes on May 25".

Meanwhile, Shelly Oberoi, Delhi MCD Mayor, also highlighted the significance of the walkathon in raising awareness about the power of voting and the importance of protecting democracy and the Constitution.

We may consider interim bail to Kejriwal in view of Lok Sabha elections, SC tells ED

The Supreme Court on Friday said it may consider granting interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in view of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, in a ray of hope to the AAP chief arrested in the excise policy-linked money laundering case.

Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 and is currently lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody.

A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta told the Enforcement Directorate(ED) that arguments on Kejriwal's plea against his arrest are likely to take time and therefore it was considering hearing the probe agency on the issue of interim bail to him on account of Lok Sabha elections in Delhi. Delhi goes to polls on May 25.

It then told Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, to be ready with the case on May 7.
