City cops to train in Gwalior alongside NSG and Force One troops in order to organise the national level event next year
Delhi police will now join NSG, Force One and other commandos in a training programme meant for helping the forces organise the National Commando Games next year.

A team of Delhi police has been sent to Gwalior in this context. The city is hosting this year's National Commando Games that start from February 21.u00a0 Commandos from all over India will participate in the event, which is a major get-together of all commando forces in India.
"We are planning to organise the Commando games in Delhi next year and for this purpose we have sent our team to check out the Games this year. We think that this is an important event for the cops. Commandos from state police, National Security Guard, other military and paramilitary forces gather for the event," said a senior police official.
The team of Delhi police which has been sent to Gwalior is headed by DCP first Battalion."The spirit of the game, the tactics and strength of different commando units are tested and shared in this event. The event will promote the knowledge sharing among commandos. We are also promoting these games because such events are a good sources of judging physical and mental eligibility of the commandos and imbibe a sense of competition," the officer added. The Delhi police team will return on February 24 after studying the concept of the games.
Fists of fury
To make them more efficient in the art of self defence and combat tactics, the Delhi SWAT commandos are being trained in the Israeli martial art Krav Maga for the last couple of years under the chief instructor of Krav Maga in India.
Beginners
After the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, police departments in several states have raised their own commando forces. Delhi police haveu00a0 come up with SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team. Members of this outfit have been provided with world class training to assist the counter-terrorism operations in the Capital.
SWAT along with Force One of Mumbai and commando force of Karnataka will participate in these games for the first time.
