Denied tea, accused bangs head against lock-up grill

The police have registered a case of attempt to suicide after an arrested accused allegedly tried to kill himself by banging his head against the lock-up's iron grills at the Pimpri police station yesterday.

According to the police, Chikhali resident Bilal Khan (45), asked for a cup of tea and his demand was denied, after which he started banging his head against the grills, and even threatened the police that he would tell the judge in the court that they have tortured him while in police custody.u00a0

Pimpri police had arrested Khan on Monday for sedating people with sugar cane juice and then fleeing with their valuables. “There are five cases registered against him at Pimpri police station, and on Monday we arrested him from Pimpri for sedating people with sugar cane juice and robbing them thereafter,” said Mohan Vidhate, police inspector at Pimpri police station.u00a0
