PIZZA WOES

You will have to play chef to get an appetising pizza at this new joint, found WHAT's ON

Pizza joints seem to be mushrooming all over the city, but apart from a few popular and branded ones, most pizza joints bear a deserted look. Case in point: Indian Pizza, a popular pizza joint at Kondhwa, which opened its second outlet at Koregaon Park. We visited it on a cold Friday night and as it was almost empty, finding a table was no problem. But it's still a place we would not head again in a hurry.

Ambience: The place is small but cheerful. The walls are painted in bright blue and yellow and while one wall has hanging items, the other has huge wall-to-wall paintings.

We ordered: We started off by ordering the Cheese Garlic Bread (Rs 50) and were served four bread pieces with cheese, which tasted just average. It was only after adding black pepper, salt and chilly flakes that it tasted slightly better.

For the main course, we opted for one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian pizza. Though the menu card mentions sandwiches and pastas, nothing except pizzas was available.

The Vegetarian Pesto Pizza (Rs 150 for medium-sized pizza) tasted average. It supposedly had black olives, capsicum and oregano; though we had to search for them. It had a thick cheese stuffing and nothing else. We had to generously add sauces and pepper to eat it.

However, the non-vegetarian Pepperoni Pizza (Rs 170 for medium-sized pizza) was delicious. It had chicken pepperoni with mushrooms, lots of cheese and a thick stuffing. Thankfully, it did not require any addition.

Service: Apart from the food, the service was also quite poor. The table we chose was dirty, but the attendant did not even notice that. We had to call him specifically to clean the table. Moreover, no one served water and sauces until we asked for it.
