The Left Wednesday asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not to foil a strike called Thursday to protest against a string of economic decisions.
"She had also protested against the diesel price hike and retail FDI. Yesterday she announced she is withdrawing support from the UPA regime. So I would request her not to protest against our strike as we have called the strike on the same issues," CPI-M leader Surya Kant Mishra said.
The Left has announced a 12-hour general strike in West Bengal Thursday against the hike in diesel price and allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail.
