Delhi double murder: Police suspect dispute over abusive social media post

In the aftermath of a fatal shooting at a salon in Delhis Najafgarh police has made headway in the investigation by identifying the assailantsQuoting sources newswire PTI reported that the attackers were suspected to have been involved in a dispute with the accused over a social media postThey said the two accused have been identified as Sanjeev Dahiya alias Sanju and Harsh alias Chintu who shot Ashish and Sonu dead at Najafgarhs Indira Park on Friday The victims had gone to the salon for a hair cutPurported CCTV footage also surfaced on social media where one of the victims is seen pleading with the assailants He was hit in his head by bullets fired from a pointblank rage In the footage two women staff of the salon are also seen running away in fearA police official said it prima facie appears to be a case of personal enmity which ensued over an abusive social media post But the exact reason behind the blood bath will be ascertained once the accused are arrested he addedThe sources said Dahiya practises law in a Delhi court but it is yet to be verified Harsh alias Chintu the brother of jailed gangster Yogesh Tunda was recently released from prison on bail the sources saidAt least half a dozen teams of the local police and crime branch have been formed to nab the accusedDeputy Commissioner of Police Dwarka Ankit Singh said the teams are working to nab the accused Certain things will be clear once the accused are arrested he saidMeanwhile a 41yearold tribal man was allegedly abducted and held captive at a bungalow in Thane district of Maharashtra by a historysheeter and his accomplices who also threatened and assaulted him over a land dispute police said on SaturdayThe incident occurred during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday an official of Padgha police station where Santosh Deoo Babar from Udidpada village in Bhiwandi taluka lodged the complaint saidThe prime accused in the case Yasin Shahnawaz Chikhlekar is a notorious criminal who had been externed from several districts including Thane Palghar Raigad Mumbai city and suburban and Nashik for two years from January 2014 he saidHe was booked along with his five accomplices under Indian Penal Code IPC sections 365 abduction 143 unlawful assembly 323 voluntarily causing hurt 504 intentional insult 506 criminal intimidation and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act the police saidChikhlekar abducted the victim from a brick kiln in Tulsi around 11 pm on Thursday He was then taken to Chikhlekars office nearby where he was threatened and subjected to physical and verbal abuseAs per the complaint the victim was later held captive at a bungalow overnight and forced to consume liquor and assaulted with bottlesAfter being released Babar sought the assistance of an NGO which helped him in filing the complaintAccording to police the accused faces several criminal cases including attempt to murder With inputs from PTI
