Pune's restaurants are factoring the economic downturn into their menus. Some like Praful Chandavarkar, partner of Malaka Spice andu00a0 POST 91, and Khodu Irani of High Spirits, Koregaon Park, have solidly decided to keep the prices unchanged.



"Our prices have remained stable for over two years now you could say we are recession-proof," said Chandavarkar.u00a0

"We are however keeping the smaller pay slips of our clients in mind, so they can still go out twice a week, and yet not spend as much as they did in 2007 or 2008. Beer, for instance, is on the house now. Otherwise our prices are unchanged," Chandavarkar adds.

However, Neerav Panchamia of Not Just Jazz By The Bay and Oyster Fry at E-Square on University Road says he might consider revising rate by up to 10 per cent.

Ravish Arora of Polka Dot (located at Aundh and Kalyani Nagar), says the yearly contracts that restaurant owners have wit their suppliers insulated them from the economic downturn.

"Only after our supplier contracts expire will we be able to decide whether we should revise the prices. That is not likely in the immediate future, but sometimes later, yes".
