Mahatma Gandhi's statue, that's part of the Gyarah Murti sculpture in the Capital, has been without its glasses for over half a decade now

He is the most recognised Indian in the world. With his foresight and vision, Mahatma Gandhi led the nation to independence after years of strife and struggle.

It's a bit ironic then that none of the government departments have noticed that the spectacles on the great man's bust, that is part of the famous Gyarah Murti sculpture near the Presidential Estate, have been missing for the past six years now.u00a0

Walking tall: This massive black sculpture is located on the T-junction on Sardar Patel Marg from where roads lead to Willingdon Crescent and Teen Murti House. The sculpture, by Devi Prasad Roy Choudhary, depicts the famous Dandi March led by Mahatma Gandhi in 1931 against oppressive salt taxes imposed by the British regime. PIC/Rajeev Tyagi
