On Obama I like the way Obama is looking.

He is wearing a very well cut suit, which is making him look lean and fit. Needless to say this suit helps the man exude confidence and style.

I especially like the colour of his tie. It is a little offbeat blue, yet compliments his attire and attitude completely. I give him a complete thumbs up for the over all look.

on michelle We all have used to seeing her in bright purples and mustards.

But this one, a grey textured dress is a formal understated look. I personally like her in bright colours.

The grey doesn't gel well with her look, but maybe she wanted her husband to stand out. I would have loved to see her in a vibrant ochre or red.

The pearl necklace though is looking very elegant and formal and holding up the dress, which actually falls flat.

On obama World over, charcoal grey suits have become perfect for business meetings and so is this one, since Obama is on very formal business agenda.

Normally suits are supposed to be very fitted, just like a hand glove. Obama has a fit lean body and this suit enhances his body structure, bringing out the best in him with this two-button suit, which is very in now.

Bespoke tailored suits are like customized Mercedes cars.

One look at the suit and it's crystal clear that Obama is sporting one of those suits, where the best of designer tailors comes home and makes you pick from handpicked selected fabrics, with the person's initials on the shirt, customized cufflinks and initials somewhere on the inside of the suit jacket, so whenever you hang it, it's visible.

I'm usually blunt when it comes to style critique, but Obama is one President after Ronald Reagan who's got class. I never liked Bush's style, which was too much in the face.

Why white shirt? It's the safest bet with any formal suits as you can never go wrong with a crisp white shirt once you team it with a black or dark grey suit. Also, these turn out to be picture perfect. Since he's going to be hogging the limelight and knows that he will be photographed at every move he makes, this ensemble is very shutterbug friendly.

Blues, reds, greys and prints for ties are in vogue. With Obama's skin colour he can play with bright colours for ties. Men with darker skin tones are always louder in their choice of colours.

Even in their choice of music, they tend to be a tad loud and are able to pull it off pretty well. This blue tie complements his dark skin tone well.

On Michelle I would say hats off to Michelle for being so modestly dressed, but on the style front it's a thumbs down. Since Michelle is the first lady, she could have adapted to the country she is visiting and worn a gorgeous saree.

Many first ladies have always come dressed in formal trousers and very chic formal skirts: a boring standard route.

A saree could have broken the norm well. Any designer in the world would love to lend a helping hand, but her style clearly speaks NO attitude.

That's her personality. She likes to play it understated and comes out as a very homely lady, who is not spending too much time on her dressing.

On Obama
He's wearing a black formal suit and looking dapper. But that's Obama the President; I can't expect him to wear a purple suit. His blue tie stands for his being from the Democratic Party. He wouldn't want to be seen sporting a red tie, as it would stand for the Republican Party.

Did you know?

A Harvard study found that Michelle Obama can generate up to $14 million (over Rs 60 crore) for a brand every time she wears one of its products

Since Michelle Obama wore a dress made by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan to a state dinner for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2009, he says his clothes have been flying off the shelves.
