Seven people, including four children, were killed after heavy rain triggered landslides and damaged many houses in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, on Wednesday, officials said.

A rescue operation was on to find one more people trapped under the debris, they said. The incessant rain has created a flood-like situation at many places in Jammu.  Officials said rivers, especially in Kathua and Samba districts, have either crossed or are close to breaching the flood level. The weather office has predicted more rains in the region.
