Former BJP leader gets life sentence for raping girl

Former Cooperative Bank Chairman and ex-BJP leader Pramod Gupta was today sentenced to life in prison by a local court for gangraping a girl at a city resort in a case going back five years

Additional District and Sessions Judge Amit Kumar Sirohi also sentenced Gupta's associate Ashok Kumar to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in the case. Ashok was held guilty of being Gupta's accomplice in the crime.u00a0
However, Pravin Kumar, the owner of the resort where the crime took place on April 19, 2008, was acquitted by court.
