Reportedly, the FIR was lodged against the legislator under Indian Police Code (IPC) sections related to rioting, extortion, and assault on government officials, as well as provisions of the Arms Act. The confrontation transpired when state forest department personnel were summoned to Vasava's residence in Dediapada town to address concerns regarding encroachments on forest land.
The incident happened on the night of October 30, and the FIR was officially registered at the Dediapada police station on the night of November 2, naming four individuals, including Vasava, his wife, and two others.
A dispute emerged between the two parties when forest officials objected to private parties using forest land for farming. The MLA allegedly confronted the forest officials after inviting them to his residence for discussions. During the conversation, Vasava and the other accused purportedly threatened the officials, with Vasava even firing a shot into the air, a police officer told PTI.
Chaitar Vasava is one of the five MLAs representing the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, elected in the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections. The tribal MLA was subsequently appointed as the AAP's legislature party leader in the state.
Deputy CM Fadnavis under fire for misconduct
Last month, while Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was taking stock of the situation in his bastion Nagpur after a deluge caused by incessant rains, he allegedly misbehaved with a man who was affected by the floods. The state unit of Congress had shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and stated that Fadnavis had become haughty since he assumed power.
The party in their caption had written, "Haughtiness of arrogant Fadnavis with citizens reporting damage caused by rainwater. Is this the way to deal with our voters? If it is not the effect of power, what else can be called?"
The video footage reportedly showed Fadnavis trying to get to his vehicle and interacting with the public; a visibly annoying Fadnavis is later seen tugging on a man who was sharing his woes and shoving him aside. The man was seemingly taken aback by his reaction.
The Opposition parties--NCP and Shiv Sena (UBT)-- to slammed him for his alleged misconduct.
