The Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked small-arms firing during the intervening night of April 29 and 30 from its posts across the Line of Control (LoC) in multiple sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting a swift and proportionate response from the Indian Army, according to an official statement released on Tuesday, reported news agency ANI.

Indian positions in the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors of the Jammu region were targeted in the initial attack. Subsequent updates confirmed that ceasefire violations were also recorded in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts in north Kashmir, as well as across the International Border (IB) in the Pargwal sector.
