With polling beginning on Monday in 49 constituencies for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Congressman Rahul Gandhi stated that the nation is going through a storm of change and that it is evident that people have stepped up to defend democracy and the Constitution.

Per a PTI report, voting is currently being held in 49 constituencies in six states and two union territories in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, which will decide the electoral fate of several prominent leaders like Gandhi himself, Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah.

In a post in Hindi Gandhi took to social media platform X and said, "Today is the fifth phase of voting! In the first four phases itself, it has become clear that people have stood up to protect the Constitution and democracy and are defeating the BJP."

He told PTI, "This nation is voting on its own issues because it is tired of the politics of hatred. Young people for jobs, farmers for MSP and debt relief, women for financial stability and independence, and workers for just compensation.”

"The people are fighting this election along with INDIA (bloc) and there is a storm of change in the country," the former Congress president added. "I am appealing to the entire country, including Amethi and Rae Bareli, to come out and vote in large numbers for the prosperity of your families, for your own rights and for the progress of India," Gandhi proceeded. In this Lok Sabha Elections, Rahul Gandhi intends to contest for parliament from both his Wayanad constituency and Rae Bareli, a seat that their mother, Sonia Gandhi, formerly held. On Monday, Rae Bareli will participate in the elections' fifth phase of voting.
