Maharashtra: 2 men rob Amravati house on pretext of census

On Tuesday, two unidentified men broke into a house in Amravati and stole cash and valuables worth Rs 5 lakh while posing as census surveyors, according to police. The cops told PTI that the incident happened in a Rathi Nagar flat.

The perpetrators informed a woman, who was the only family member at home at the time of the incident, that they were carrying out a census and requested that she fetch the family's Aadhaar cards.  According to the official, they stormed into the house as she was entering, threatened her with a knife, and stole property worth Rs 5 lakh before making off, the PTI report added.

The cops said that a probe is underway.
