A 32-year-old woman attempted suicide after allegedly killing her mother-in-law with a rod in Raigad.

The accused, Yogita Karale, is a resident of Bekare village.

Since Yogita’s husband died two years ago, she resided with her mother-in-law Tarabai Karale, father-in-law, and two kids at Bekare village in Neral, stated a report in India Today.

According to police, Yogita got into an argument with Tarabai over some domestic issue. During the argument, in a fit of rage, the accused hit Tarabai on the head with an iron rod twice, leading to a grievous injury that resulted in her death.

The villagers then informed Neral police about the incident. When police reached the spot, Yogita locked herself in the bathroom of a neighbour’s house. She then consumed toilet cleaner.

The police broke open the door and found her lying unconscious with froth coming out of her mouth.

A murder case has been registered against Yogita. She will be taken into custody after her discharge from the hospital.
