Accused had fled after the crime but was arrested later

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in Inderlok area of North Delhi. Police said that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the girl was alone at her home. "The accused, identified as Mohammed Pravez, who lives in the neighbourhood, called the girl to his room on the pretext of giving her some eatables. He then beat her brutally and raped her.

The frightened girl told her mother about the incident on Wednesday. The girl's parents then lodged a complaint with police," said a police official. The girl was taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College where a medical test established the rape. "Mohammed Pravez had fled from the spot after committing the crime but was arrested by the police later," the police official added.
