In Maharashtra the bandh called by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) evoked little response owing to ongoing Ganesh festival. The Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have kept away from the day-long bandh due to the festival. Shiv Sena members were on the streets, forcing shops to down shutters in Amritsar city.
