In Maharashtra’s Nagpur, a 25-year-old student allegedly killed himself as he was under stress over scoring low marks in some subject in his examination, the police were quoted in a report by news agency PTI.


Reportedly, the student’s father found him hanging from ceiling fan in their home near Vaishali Nagar garden on Wednesday morning. As soon as the police were alerted, they reached the spot. 


The personnel from Pachpaoli police station added that the deceased student retired to his room after having dinner with his parents. His father later found him dead. 


The deceased was studying in a private college in Nagpur and was in fourth year. During probe, the cops learnt that he had failed in some subjects in his sixth semester and this pushed him to take such an extreme step. 

The police said that the student’s father works as a clerk with a government department and that they have registered a case of accidental death and that further investigation is underway. 

Another student suicide in Nagpur

In a similar incident, a 19-year-old college student had allegedly killed herself after her mother scolded her for spending too much time on her mobile phone, PTI reported. The student, identified as Renuka Kale, was a first-year undergraduate student. 

Renuka was being raised by her mother Seema since her father’s death. Her mother has a grocery shop. 

According to her friends and neighbours, Renuka was a bright student who had off lately lost her focus in studies and spent a lot of time on her mobile phone. 

The police were quoted in the report saying that Renuka was browsing through her phone on Monday afternoon when Seema reprimanded her for ignoring studies. Following the argument, the student died by suicide and her body was found by her mother later. 

The Gittikhadan police have registered a case of accidental death, the police personnel told PTI.
