The OC had issued the second list of 634 outgoing employees on October 27. But the salaries of the first lot which was made to exit on October 20 are yet to get their dues. Sources in the OC told MiD DAY that their salary might not be released before Diwali.

"Although it was evident that after Games our jobs at OC will be over, but the way we were given an ignominious exit is sheer torture. The first lot of employees, which was made to exit on October 20, were told it the same day. Can't the OC staffs who came to work for nation's honour for a short-term with no certain post games fate, deserve an honourable exit?" asked an OC staff, who was working with the accreditation department, requesting anonymity.

"Suresh Kalmadi could have planned it a better way. It is like 'use and throw' policy," said another OC employee. Frustrated with getting umpteen clearances even after 10 days of leaving the job, an OC staff said, "At the time when we are supposed to search a job, we are wasting our productive time in getting these clearances. Are we responsible for CWG corruption?"

They alleged that while their bosses misappropriated hundreds of crores, they were treated like bonded labourers.

It is not just the OC staff, hundreds of volunteers, who were considered the face of the Commonwealth Games have not been issued their certificates as yet.

"We are not even allowed to enter the OC office and after we raised hue and cry they are distributing it under the sky, as if we were some beggars," said Rohit, a volunteer. OC officials refused to comment on the matter.

long term

The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee was given an extension on October 19 by the Group of Ministers (GoM). Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, who heads the GoM, said: "Senior officials made available to the Organising Committee by the Government of India will be allowed to continue till further orders." The sports ministry will decide on the duration of the extension. "Since the GoM has met for the first time after the CWG, the GoM adopted a short resolution."
