Odisha Bar Council condemns advocate’s attack on CJI Gavai

Days after an advocate attempted to hurl a shoe at CJI BR Gavai, Odisha Bar Council chairman Sitanshu Mohan Dwibedi condemned the act, calling it a disgrace to the judiciary. He stressed that no advocate is above the law, while the Bar Council of India suspended the lawyer’s licence and initiated action

Days after the attack on CJI by the advocate, the Chairman of the Odisha State Bar Council, Sitanshu Mohan Dwibedi, strongly condemned the attempt to hurl. On Thursday, the CJI criticised the advocate’s move to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai. He further stressed that no advocate is above the law.

While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Dwibedi said, "The Odisha State Bar Council has condemned the issue. No advocate is above the law. The judiciary is the temple of justice, and the judge and the advocate are two sides of the same coin," as cited by news agency ANI.
