The Bangalore city police arrested village accountant Krishnegouda of Chinnakurchi, Kengeri, who along with revenue official Hucchappa, tampered with documents in order to transfer government land worth Rs 5 crore to his second wife and her sister's name.
The facts of the matter came to light after a Lokayukta team raided Krishnegouda's house yesterday, where they discovered the tampered documents.
In 2000, the Karnataka government offered government land to the homeless poor. Krishnegouda tampered with documents in order to transfer some of this land to his wife Usha and sister-in-law Tejaswini's name.
