Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday joined the INDIA bloc MPs in a protest outside Parliament at Makar Dwar, opposing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar and the reported arrests of labourers in BJP-ruled states, reported ANI.

Standing alongside her daughter and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi held a banner reading ‘SIR – Attack on Democracy.’ Senior leaders, including Pramod Tiwari and Manickam Tagore, also participated in the demonstration.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs also joined the INDIA bloc protest on Wednesday, voicing their opposition to the reported arrests of labourers in BJP-ruled states. While the TMC has been holding separate protests in recent days over the alleged mistreatment of Bengalis in other states, they united with the larger opposition demonstration today, reported ANI.
