A fresh petition was filed before the Supreme Court on Tuesday against the Bihar government's decision to conduct a caste survey in the state, claiming the state's action was violative of the basic structure of the Constitution.
The petition, filed by 'Hindu Sena' President Vishnu Gupta, alleged the notification was "discriminatory and unconstitutional". Other similar petitions are likely to come up for hearing before a bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha on January 20.
