Chikhali fire
The city saw two separate cases of fire within 14 hours, damaging property worth around R1 crore. On Tuesday evening, a fire broke out at a warehouse of an automobile company near Chakan and on Wednesday morning, a scrap godown in Chikhali caught fire, damaging 10 shops and 14 houses.

It took four fire trucks and five water tankers to bring the fire under control at Vijay Logistics located in Chakan on Tuesday evening
The first incident took place on Tuesday around 8.30 pm at Vijay Logistics in Chakan area. Fire broke out in the 11-acre land of the company and two shops containing raw materials, goods, machinery and furniture were burned down.
“It took four fire trucks and five water tankers to bring the fire under control. The fire spread rapidly and it took a team of 60 firemen three hours to douse the flames,” said a police official. Inspector D B Patil, in charge of Chakan Police Station, said, “We have not drawn any conclusions as far as the cause of fire is concerned; we are awaiting the final expert report on it.”
In the second incident, fire broke out at Kudalwadi in Chikhali area on Wednesday morning around 10.30 at a scrap house. The fire then spread to adjacent godowns and nearby houses as well.
