Bharat Rang Mahotsav is back in the capital with its 13th edition with 81 productions from around the globe

Meena is a famous film star. She returns to her native village Pichampuram which is in abject poverty after two decades to make her final film. With news of her arrival there is a new burst of energy in the village and she is hailed as their saviour, while Ravi, her former lover, is pushed to appeal to her on the village's behalf.

Meena is willing to help the village and promises to make the villagers prosperous. But what does she ask for in return?

A couple checks in Hotel Kashmir in the middle of nowhere for their honeymoon. What follows is a saga that projects the plight of the people, state and the seemingly endless disturbing situation. Freak and banal events keep occurring in the hotel and mysteries are never resolved.

These are but some stories which will be enacted at various stages across the Capital at the National School of Drama's 13th Bharat Rang Mahotsav. The festival opened last week with Habib Tanveer's
celebrated play Charandas Chor which was directed by NSD alumni Anup Hazarika.

Going global
Expect to see 81 productions from around the world. These include 23 productions from 20 countries like China, Pakistan, Chile, France, UK, Bolivia, Chile, Japan, Argentina, UK, Germany, Sri Lanka, US, Poland, Nepal and Italy among others.

There are three theatre productions from France -- the classic opera Le Barbier de Seville, has been adapted by French director, Eric Vigner, In Vivo is a dance piece and Silent Words is a mime performance by Laurent Decol.
