Forgery case against woman notary operating at RTO The Rajajinagar police have filed a forgery case against a notary who allegedly overcharged for revenue stamps. The scam was exposed when S M Bidari, the city police commissioner, received a petition making the allegations against notary S R Deepa Srinivas.

They found that Deepa, who had an office in Regional Transport Office (RTO), Rajajinagar, charged between Rs 150 and Rs 200 for a revenue stamp worth Rs 2. People who needed affidavits to submit to the RTO would usually get it from from Deepa. Investigating officers also found that Deepa would also forge the signature and seal of the sub registrar on the stamp paper. Kariappa, who filed the complaint against Deepa, cross-checked affidavits people had prepared from Deepa with the office of the sub-registrar. Ill-gotten lakhs He found that Deepa would never register the affidavit in the sub registrar office documents. Registering every affidavit in the sub registrar office is mandatory. "Deepa has been operating from Rajajinagar RTO for the past two years. We suspect she might have earned several lakhs through these fraudulent means," said a police officer who is part of the investigations. "We have booked forgery and cheating cases against Deepa and she will be arrested soon," the officer added.
