Every penny counts
Every penny counts
This is the first time in one and a half years that I haven't ventured for a Saturday night movie and dinner at the adjoining multiplex.
A Satyam employee blogs
I have been with Satyam Computers' Chennai unit for one and a half years and so are my three roommates. With a big question mark on the company's fate and our jobs, an entry level employee (like me and roomies) can't afford to lead opulent lives. Not at this point of time. So the pizza orders, extra packs of ciggies and Friday night clubbing will have to wait. Wait till I am assured of receiving the payslip at the end of this month and the months to come.
I am wise, says wife
Until a few weeks ago, Kavitha taunted me for not having grand "plans" like Vimal did. My colleague from the Hyderabad office, Vimal, is now posted in Dubai. He has bought two flats in posh localities of Hyderabad and had invested in Satyam shares - a "smart move" according to Kavitha, my wife. But as the company's fortunes come crumbling, Vimal is in a soup. If termination of projects and layoffs is what it finally comes down to, he will have a tough time paying for is flats and other expenses. The other day when Vimal called, the poor chap was worrying about his future. "Thank god, you didn't take hasty decisions like him," Kavitha pointed out.
Yeah right ;)
We've got mail...
...and hordes of them. My official mailbox is overflowing. With hordes of internal mails on solidarity, queries and updates - it's quite a week as far as email activity is concerned. Some employees have taken this opportunity in indulging in some serious a***licking. They are responding to each and every mail of the seniors just to prove that they care about the company and are completely dedicated to it. Bull! Just another way of keeping oneself in public eye and earn brownie points during appraisals. But the big question, are appraisals happening? Ha ha ha.
