All schools in Assam's Kamrup (Metro) district, which comprises Guwahati, have been ordered to remain closed for four days from September 24 to 27 due to prevailing excessive heat conditions.

The district administration issued the order after several schools in Guwahati and adjoining areas reported that children were falling sick or fainting due to extreme heat conditions.
