The 30-share index rose by 217.03 points, or 1.29 per cent, to 17,006.77 points. The BSE barometer had lost 536.27 points, or 3 per cent, in the previous three sessions. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 66.35 points, or 1.33 per cent, to 5,054.95 points.
