Technical consultants appointed by the IT Department of the state government in Mumbai will now oversee the installation of 1,000 to 1,100 CCTVs in the area under the jurisdiction of the city police commissionerate, which includes Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Collector Vikas Deshmukh yesterday said the decision was taken in a high-powered committee meeting held in Mumbai on Tuesday where the state government agreed in principal to install CCTV cameras in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad.u00a0
Chief Secretary J K Banthia was present at the meeting. “The decision about the spots for installing the cameras will be taken by the high-powered committee when the technical consultants will submit their reports after studying the infrastructure of the city,” Deshmukh said.
