"We don't know when the damn Swine flu will leave us, so what's the point in postponing the event? Life goes on," shrugs designer Malini Ramani who flew in from Delhi on Wednesday to launch the brand new, It's a Playdate collection at Bandra. She is India's relentless out-and-about girl, with an enviable career built by seducing the sexy streak in any woman who bothers about having a jolly good time. After an eight-month gap, Malini found inspiration in Mumbai's Bombabes, and in a span of 30 days, she was ready with her Fall/Winter collection. "I love this collection. It's not really about party clothes but clothing options that can work on a lunch date, shopping date, travel date or play date," says the Delhi girl. The range is priced at Rs 4,200 onwards, and an embroidered sundress with a price tag of Rs 18,500 is the most expensive garment in the collection.
Shop for sexy, playful line of dresses and tunics, sporty jumpsuits, flirty tops, and sheer kaftans in slinky fabrics with minimal embroidery. An aubergine and black combination remains the mainstay, with sporadic splash of coral and lime. Malini claims to have ditched sequins for subtle yet very effective tribal embroidery, to add a funky and exotic edge. "There's a fashionable, sexy vibe about Mumbai's women. They prefer going relaxed-stylish; that's what sets them apart from their Delhi counterparts."
