Oldest Durga Puja in city
The Greater Pune Sarbajanin Durgotsav organised by the Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad is one of Pune's oldest Durga Puja celebrations and has completed 70 years. This year, the idol resembles the Panchala Thakur of Bonedi Bari, one of Bengal's oldest traditional Pujas and the mandap resembles a rural temple. There are 18 stalls devoted to authentic food, traditional ccessories such as Shakha-Sindoor and ethnic Bengali sarees. Taking the swine flu into account, there will be proper fumigation and attendants serving food will wear proper gloves and masks.
At: Congress Bhavan, 55, Bhosale Nagar.
Pushpanjali: 10 am to 12 pm
Bhog: 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm
