With the aim to put them out of business, the Delhi Medical Council on a daily basis issues notices to 20-25 practitioners who are working in various parts of the city with fake degrees. But according to reports, many of these quacks, who have been asked to shut shop, are now planning a protest outside the house of the chairman of the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) "In the morning, I got an anonymous call from a person who appeared to be my well-wisher saying that quacks are planning to protest outside my home. He also told me that they might hurt my family members too," said Dr Anil Bansal, Chairman, DMC and Anti-Quackery Committee. Dr Bansal has now written a complaint to the registrar of DMC along with the Commissioner of Police. "I have done this for protecting my family. We have been sending notices to several quacks on a daily basis. Also, copies of the same are being sent to the respective police stations. All the letters are sent with my name on them. That is probably why these persons are planning to attack me", he added. Meanwhile, the registrar of the council has planned to take steps against all those participating in the protest. "We will take serious action against those persons who are taking part in the protest," said Dr Girish Tyagi, Registrar, DMC. 40,000 No. of quacks working in the city, according to DMC records
