Presently, there are four Metro police stations in the city at Shastri Park, Kashmiri Gate, Rithala and Rajouri Garden. One of the first to be added to the list could come up at Yamuna Bank as the line has already been extended to Noida and the Yamuna Bank-Anand Vihar section is expected to be made operational by the yearend. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Delhi Metro and Railways) BS Gurjar said, "The network has expanded and there is a need to add more police stations. About 250 police personnel will be added to the force to man the new police stations." At present, the four Metro police stations have 100 policemen with each being headed by a station house officer. An assistant commissioner of police monitors the force's work while operations are headed by an officer of the rank of additional deputy commissioner of police. u00a0 With the growing ridership and expanding network the number of cases in Metro trains has also witnessed a spurt. Majority of cases pertain to eveteasing and pick-pocketing while some major crime have also been reported on the trains in the recent past. A few days ago the third major incident of theft was reported on Delhi Metro network in which 200 gm of gold went missing from a luggage scanner at Karol Bagh Metro station, also a scribe was robbed of Rs 40,000 while on his way to pay his new car's installment near Rajouri Garden. And in the third case, a couple of days ago, a resident of Mayur Vihar lost Rs 52,000 inside the Metro train while on his way to Phase-I Metro station. Even the Noida police are planning to open Metro police stations. Senior Noida police officials told MiD DAY that two such police stations are proposed, however, SSP Noida AK Singh refused to acknowledge it. "I have not received any such proposal. The police stations at Sector 20 and Sector 39 will take care of the cases pertaining to Metro," he said. However, commuters in Noida said they would like to see exclusive police stations like Delhi.
