Traffic cops say decision taken keeping in mind that streets would be flooded with people who will be out to get Ganesha idols for prathisthapana
Today, a lot of motorists will not be able to drive through or park vehicles at multiple locations, as the traffic police department has imposed parking and vehicular traffic restrictions at several locations in the city. The decision was taken perceiving that people would be on the streets on the first day of Ganeshotsav to get idols for prathisthapana (installation). Hence, a ban on parking or driving trough some areas in the city would be imposed between 6 am and 9 pm.u00a0

Some of the areas cordoned off for vehicular movement include Shivajinagar, Tilak Road, Shastri Road, Laxmi Road, Shivaji Road, Swargate and Pune railway station. u00a0Even the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses from Shivajinagar to Swargate would have to take a detour from S G Barve chowk, Jangli Maharaj Road, Tilak chowk, Laxmi Road or Tilak Road. Buses can also reach their respective destinations from Shivajinagar Court, Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk and Nehru Road.u00a0
