Want govt members in collegiums: Rijiju to CJI

Opposition term as ‘dangerous’ and ‘intimidation’ the Centre’s demand for inclusion of nominees in the system to appoint judges to the SC and HCs

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has written to Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud stating that he is not satisfied with the Collegium system of appointing judges, and demanded for inclusion of its representatives and that of states in collegiums of the Supreme Court and high courts.

Rijiju has sought this representation, saying it will help infuse transparency and public accountability in the selection of judges.
