Posh or Pardesi?
Step into this cafe and you flinch. God! It's bright! That apart, when your eyes get used to the bright lights, you realize that the interiors grow on you and you begin to find it pleasing and spacious. What's new you ask? Well, the buffet boasts of delicacies from the South and North of India and is served at almost all times and that's something we like. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2010/feb/food.jpg" border="5" /> By the way, if you love soups and breads then you are in the right place. While the soup choices aren't too many, the choice of breads to chose from are fabulous and ensure you get back your every penny worth. Sold as a posh restaurant, one would expect the service to be smooth and efficient. u00a0 But, other than the fact that they are too polite to be true, don't expect your dirty table to be cleaned anytime soon. We waited to what seemed like the end of eternity to even get the attention of a steward to our table. At one point of time we began to wonder if we were invisible. I was personally spooked with all the light and kept feeling the chills run down my spine, like I was in the limelight, but didn't mind it one bit. One word of advice though be prepared to hear a mixture of two sounds playing at the same time as the music from the lounge and cafe intersperse with each other. Not a happy thing for any music lover. It's up to you now! The up-market Pride Hotel's Cafe Treat, a 24-hour eatery on the ground floor is more a restaurant than a cafe. Your answer for any time hunger pangs, there's breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets with an a la carte menu also available. u00a0 Its round-the-clock nature makes it a convenient option for business travellers with an early start or for those who are familiar with the dissatisfaction of a delayed flight, a late check-in, and heading to bed with stomach empty save for a chocolate from the mini-bar. In fitting with the hotel's clientele, Cafe Treat is an excellent choice for a corporate meal. The elegant and strikingly modern decor is something that might impress your colleagues or clients, but if you're looking for a cranny with an intimate ambiance for dinner with that special someone, well... keep looking. Cafe Treat's lighting is harsh and not ideal for inspiring romance, ever! The buffet includes soups, salads, veg and non-veg mains and desserts. Though the selections on offer change with every day of the week, it is usually a reasonable spread that represents all corners of India from Kashmiri pulao to Andhra chicken with some Chinese dishes on offer as well. The wine list at Cafe Treat is limited, so if you're fond of a drink we recommend heading upstairs to the Casablanca restaurant, where the choice is more extensive. Service at Cafe Treat is friendly, if slightly disorganised (we were asked the same question by three different waiters, all apparently oblivious to each others actions). At Rs 250 for breakfast, Rs 350 for lunch and Rs 395 for dinner (plus tax), Cafe Treat isn't the cheapest buffet option around. But the fare is tasty, and hey, with a buffet it's up to you whether you get your money's worth or not!
