The Delhi Metro Airport Express line, the first ever high speed metro link in the country is likely to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

Sources said that the private developer, Delhi Airport Metro Express Limited, is likely to approach Prime Minister's office to request for the formal inauguration of the service by Dr Manmohan Singh.u00a0

Though commercial operation is likely to start on Wednesday, the formal inauguration will take place at a later stage. " The formal opening could be planned at a later stage when baggage check- in facility starts at the stations and also when the two stations, which are not being opened right away, are ready. It will also depend on the PM's schedule," sources said.
