After the woman raised an alarm, neighbours beat the man up and handed him over to Oshiwara police. The accused will be produced in courton Monday.

Accused Mohammad Naseem Sheikh came to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh 10 days ago in search of a job and lived at Anand Nagar in Oshiwara.u00a0On Saturday afternoon, the four-year old girl was heading home when Sheikh took her to his house on the pretext of offering her a chocolate.

However, the neighbour spotted Sheikh taking the girl to his house and alterted others. Several people gathered in the area and broke Sheikh’s door open.

They found Sheikh attempting to rape the girl and intervened.
