Kharge made these remarks at the launch of veteran Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde`s memoir "Five Decades in Politics," highlighting Shinde’s important role in the party despite being 83 years old.

Kharge urged Shinde to continue contributing to the Congress party and spreading its ideology, stating that Shinde’s experience is crucial in strengthening the party.

Kharge referenced Morarji Desai, who became India’s Prime Minister at the age of 81, to support his belief that age should not limit one’s contribution to politics.

Kharge clarified that working in politics should not be for seeking positions or benefits but as a "return gift" to the people and the party that has supported the individual.

Kharge praised Shinde for his positive attitude, highlighting his ability to work calmly and patiently, contrasting this with leaders who talk more but act less.

Sushil Kumar Shinde has held key roles, including Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, and Union Home Minister, and his political journey was appreciated by Kharge.

Shinde expressed his gratitude to Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for their mentorship and support throughout his career, especially in appointing him as the first scheduled caste Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Shinde hopes his memoir will serve as an inspiration for others, showcasing his journey in politics and the support he received from the Congress party.
