As I hail from the Uttar Pradesh (UP) where one can find political analysts at every tea stall and bus stand discussing national politics over a cup of tea, I have been quite fortunate to comprehend the basics of the game at a very young age.
As I hail from the Uttar Pradesh (UP) where one can find political analysts at every tea stall and bus stand discussing national politics over a cup of tea, I have been quite fortunate to comprehend the basics of the game at a very young age.
I still remember, I was around 10 years old when I would accompany my maternal grandfather and uncle to political rallies and campaigns for candidates who sought my grandfather's support during the state assembly elections.
Those days, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Kanshi Ram were the key players in the game of politics in UP. A few years later, with Samajwadi Party (SP) emerging as a major force, I came to know that somebody called Amar Singh also exists. I heard a lot about this man, of course at the same tea stalls.
No party will risk taking Amar Singh in its fold, but he is believed to hit the SP where it hurts most
I have heard people talking umpteen number of times that adarniya Amar Singhji is a foul-mouthed politician who can stoop to any level to score brownie points. And with passing time, I have realised what people said about the man wasn't wide off the mark.
A regular on news channels accompanying stars and families, Amar Singh is even termed as the shakuni mama of Indian politics. One can find him wherever there is any kind of hullabaloo.
But now, with his putting in his papers, and to his utter surprise even Mulayam Singh accepting his resignation, it's very evident that Amar Singh will do everything to make people realise how big, important and influential he is. Besides, he'll prove to the leaders of the party, to which he was associated for over a decade-and-a-half, how nasty he can get.
Though no party will risk taking him in its fold at this juncture, Amar Singh is believed tou00a0 hit Mulayam Singh where it hurts most.

In fact, he's already in the attack mode and has openly supported the views of Congress and BSP of having smaller states. The shine associated with the SP will soon fade, as Amar Singh will now redouble his efforts to take the stars along with him wherever he goes. Sanjay Dutt, who has already resigned as party general secretary to show solidarity with Amar Singh, has been saying for the last few days that he will go wherever his 'bade bhaiya' would go. Also, with Manoj Tiwari, Jaya Prada and Jaya Bachchan being close to him, it won't be a surprise if they too follow suit in the days to come.
I can't say how big the damage Amar Singh causes SP will be, but I'm certain that he will make sure the party loses its Bollywood sheen soon.
