Making sense of the good, bad and often strange trending topics online

Gone, but not forgotten

The lady in white
Simi Garewal received the dubious honour of becoming a trending topic following the launch of her new chat show. Going by feedback at the time of my writing this, it was not well received. Sample this: 'Is she India's answer to Oprah? Her blingy sets say yes, but her live audience and canned laughter scream Shekhar Suman.' Saurabh Kabra had this to say: 'She is so slow! Karan Johar can do two shows in the time she takes, and better.' And Pooja Shetty was upset for another reason: 'I missed the show,' she tweeted, 'now I have nothing to rant about.'

Life's a beach
Juhu Beach became a surprise object of attention following reports of a ship, the SS Wisdom, being tranded on its shores. Faye Salins used this occurrence to point out how 'everyone in Mumbai is now moving North.'u00a0 Vinay Rao suggested that 'schools offer educational tours of the ship,' while Anu hoped, like many of us, its future wouldn't be 'like the ship River Princess in Goa, which has been stuck at Candolim beach for years.'

The last word
Tired of Amitabh Bachchan? He has a message for you: 'When naysayers abuse me and tell me to stop work because they say I am too old and forgotten, I tell themu00a0-- not yet! Not satisfied!'
