Justice in Gujarat violence

The Supreme Court's direction to the Special Investigation Team to probe the role of Narendra Modi in the Gujarat violence is a welcome move in the direction of justice.

Jakia Jafri, whose husbandu00a0 was allegedly burnt to death during the Gujarat violence by Hindu rioters, needs to be complimented for her struggle.

Despite all the odds against her, she has strived to get the guilty punished. It is tragic that despite so much evidence against Modi and his cohorts, the Citizens Tribunal Report, and so many citizens reports indicting them guilty for their acts of commission and omission, they have not only been escaping the arms of law, but also becoming more assertive and dominant in the state.

Modi, with his clever moves, has not only partitioned Gujarat along religious lines, but has also ensured that rehabilitation and justice has been totally denied to the riot victims. Tragically, the same Modi has been projected as the future prime minister
