Reports of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh being asked to negotiate with Team Anna were met with much derision.
A certain Shazen Khan tweeted: 'Vilasrao going for negotiations against corruption is like Vinod Kambli becoming the coach of the Indian cricket team.'
Reuben James believed it wasn't a bad move, considering Deshmukh 'managed to gain entry into Bollywood for his son Ritesh.'
Vibhushan Waghmare believed the minister 'must have negotiated hard within the Congress to become a negotiator with Team Anna,' while Sorabh Pant pointed out that 'Deshmukh negotiated a Chief Minister's seat twice, the MCA Presidentship and his son's career. He's used to making the impossible, possible.'
What the people want
The Jan Lokpal Bill continued to clog timelines as Anna Hazare began the ninth day of his fast. Someone using the handle Indian Clown commented: 'The Indian cricket team is also supporting Anna. They have decided not to win a single match until the Bill is passed.'

Raj Narayan had this message for Bollywood stars: 'Please pay your taxes properly before coming out in support of Anna and the Jan Lokpal Bill.'
According to Pranav Sapra, 'Jan Lokpal Bill, as the name suggests, is all set to pass by next Jan.' And there was this wistful tweet from Tarun Gupta: 'I miss the days when I used to type Anna and Google used to suggest Kournikova.'

Former India captain Baichung Bhutia announcing his retirement from international football upset a number of people. While Ambuj Gupta hoped 'Bhutia continues promoting football,' Abhinav Sinha was more pessimistic: 'That's that for Indian football, at least for another 50 years.' We'll just have to wait and see.
