On Sunday, the decks were cleared for elected president
N Srinivasan to return to the big seat after the Board’s two-man panel consisting of retired judges found Indian Premier League franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals not guilty of any wrongdoing. It cannot be claimed that there was universal acceptance to the clean chits and those who disagreed with the panel’s decision were vindicated yesterday when the Bombay High Court disregarded the clearance. The BCCI members will help themselves by showing more intent in getting to the bottom of this ugly pit. They must get their hands dirty first and then think about their votes and posts to prove that fair play has no competitors on the priority list.
To combat the ills of corruption, there will have to be lights, cameras and action. Media-haters within the BCCI will have to brace up for this.
