The world watched in awe as Barack Obama took an oath as the first African-American president yesterday.

Heartiest congratulations to him. I'm sure the new American president will do the best he can not only for his nation, but also for the world.

The Obama inauguration became a festival of sorts. The swearing-in ceremony of no president in world history has invited as much attention as this one. When George Bush assumed charge as the 43rd President of the United States in 2001, his supporters were jubilant. But Obama's inauguration that attracted a record number of three million audiences and was viewed by millions across the globe saw not only America, but the entire world celebrating.

Obama has a fan following that no other politician has enjoyed. He's a man of ambition, he's a man on a mission.u00a0u00a0

We only hope that Obama will handle the presidential transition excellently. His famous words "YES WE CAN" have made an impression on people from all over the world. He can make the dreams that America has cherished for years come true.

Heartiest congratulations to Barack Obama. He, in his speeches, has always hinted at strengthening the Indo-US relations.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

The new US president appears to be good news for India. He made a direct reference to Pakistan and announced that the US would cut off all military and economic aid if they indulge in terrorist activities.

In wake of the recent terror attacks, Pakistan is amassing troops along the borders. But with the US turning a deaf ear to Pakistan, our neighbours cannot wage a war against us. This is only a small step Obama has taken to curb Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, but it's concrete.

One of the biggest challenges that Obama faces today is terrorism. He had strongly condemned the 26/11 attacks and is expected to provide full support to India in tackling terror.

Obama will be instrumental in building a close strategic relationship between India and America. India is hopeful about what America's 44th President has to offer.
