Metro lines are expanding, making this travel mode a vital part of Mumbai’s changing commuter landscape

CCTV image captures the metro staff rushing to the child`s aid.
It was heartwarming to learn that a station attendant at Bangur Nagar Metro station in Goregaon intervened after a two-year-old boy strayed outside. The incident took place over the past weekend. The child had stepped out of the train alone just as the doors were closing.
The alert attendant, Sanket Chodankar, alerted the train operator to reopen the doors and rushed to ensure the child’s safety within seconds. The station has platform screen doors in addition to the train doors, and owing to the timely intervention by the staff, both were opened to safely reunite the child with his family.
Hats off to the staffer, but this sheds light on the need to adhere to safety protocols at Metro stations. Metro lines are expanding, making this travel mode a vital part of Mumbai’s changing commuter landscape.
