The BMC informed the Bombay High Court that 4,715 bed-ridden people have so far registered for home vaccination against Covid-19. Out of these, 602 people have been administered the jab at their homes.

It is good to know that door-to-door vaccination has started for those who have no way to access a centre. Through the past few months, the policy had evoked debate with the civic authorities and government reassuring the public that the drive is going to start soon.

Now that it has taken off, it is important that we build on this momentum as there are a very large number of vulnerable people within this bracket who still have to get the jab.

Remember that the vaccination drive began with senior citizens. Amongst these were many who had nobody to take them to centres. Several others could not access the app or the venue for a host of other reasons, primarily weakness and ailments. So, even though the seniors had an early start so to speak, so many had not yet taken the jab due to these reasons. If they can have somebody come home, then this is truly very beneficial for them.

There are several other aspects like having a fitness certificate from a doctor or some other teething factors that are part of this. Let us iron out any wrinkles and see that this continues as the specially abled are also amongst those who can get easily vaccinated through this initiative. Any trouble or obstacles should be tackled so that we do not lose momentum and this does not fizzle out. Utmost care has to be taken that those who have got the first jab also get their second shot and there is no confusion or tension about the same. The jab has come home and let us make it home, sweet home for the beneficiaries.
